Hiring rate is $12.647/hour PLUS an additional $3/hour facility differential for hours worked.

Examples of Work
Sort and separate mail; open inmate mail, other than legal mail. Remove all monies and record same. Process and log incoming legal mail. Keep daily log of certified outgoing mail. Operate mail-room machines. Work with postal charts. Process certified, insured, registered, and UPS mailings. Distribute office/administrative mail. Compile statistics for monthly report. Deal with general public, departmental staff, and work with confidential documents. Limited contact with inmates. Review procedures to implement new and revised agency mailing procedures. Respond to telephone inquiries and maintain American Correctional Association (ACA) accreditation files.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Experience in shipping and receiving, handling inventory, warehouse work, or processing mail OR coursework or training in office support, shipping and receiving, warehouse, inventory, or mail processing practices and procedures.

PREFERRED: Experience or training with mailroom operations, basic arithmetic/bookkeeping, filing and typing.

OTHER: Valid driver's license required. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Corrections Training Program.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs. with assistance. Must be able to detect contraband. Must be able to receive instructions and work within established timelines.
