We are currently seeking a Loss Control Consultant on our Business Insurance team in Livonia, MI.

Our office in Livonia provides risk management solutions that help high net worth individuals and businesses protect against the loss of assets because of sudden casualties. We work with clients to identify potential areas of exposure and recommend solutions to guard against risk. The Loss Control Consultant will provide quality risk consulting services to MMA clients. Responsibilities include performing assessments, providing employee training, developing risk management strategies, developing written policies and documenting activity in Sagitta/ImageRight. Services should help clients reduce exposure to loss, and ensure clients are in compliance with governmental agencies such as MSHA, OSHA and DOT.

We will count on you to:

Perform Risk Consulting for MMA Clients:
  • Respond to customer questions and concerns on safety and loss control issues.
  • Perform assigned Producer-allocated work and fee-based work.
  • Perform site assessments to determine potential loss causing issues as well as non-compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Review existing policies to determine compliance with various agencies such OSHA, or DOT as well as requirements of insurance companies.
  • Provide loss-causing information to customers and producers using loss information, graphs, and the workers compensation experience modification worksheet.
  • Be able to suggest alternative approaches and risk management suggestions in order for our customer to better implement loss prevention programs.
  • Develop written safety policies specific for customer needs to comply with insurance company requirements, governmental regulations, or other entities.
  • Provide quality safety training presentations for customers' employees, supervisors or management on a variety of loss prevention topics.
  • Update Stewardship document and attend stewardship meetings as requested by Producers
  • Prepare professional looking proposal(s)

  • Feedback from the Producer Staff.
  • Direct feedback from Customers.
  • Show an average of 1,200 hours annually on the billing log.
  • 75% of activity on the billing log is producer-allocated or fee-based
Maintain Relationships with Insurance Carriers and Vendors:
  • Conduct and participate in appropriate meetings to ensure proper activities are being performed to meet goals.
  • Keep team informed of vendor and carrier personnel changes.

  • Overall feedback from vendor and carrier personnel on performance.

Act as an Advisor/Consultant for producers on sales calls with prospective clients:
  • Participate in prospect and client calls as required.
  • Provide Loss Control expertise to Producers on client specific issues, meeting directly with the client in support of the producer when needed.
  • Provide direct customer service to the client on accounts where it is required

Assists with other duties as assigned.

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Minimum 3 years loss control experience including strong knowledge of insurance carrier loss controls services and governmental safety regulations.
  • ARM, CRM, OHST or equivalent required. CSP or CIH preferred.
  • Must be detailed with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • High sense of urgency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Prior success and experience operating in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, management and peers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service related skills.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
