Logistics Data Analyst

We are searching for a Transportation Data Analyst to manage data processing for the Logistics department regarding shipping costs for both incoming and outgoing shipments. This involves overseeing all functions in the department's Access database.
Gather and analyze shipment history and freight costs, which total over $80 million each year. Regularly check and report international and domestic transportation expenses compared to the budget, with weekly and monthly updates.
Keep track of transportation expenses using web reports and analyze data to understand cost trends. Handle and prepare reports for freight payments. Monitor service transit times from carrier websites. Handle bidding processes for carriers and vendors. Develop and update department performance dashboards. Act as an expert on Access database processes and contribute to special projects related to cost analysis as needed by management.

Location: Fountain Valley, CA Hybrid 2 days in office 3 days remote
Payrate: $36-40
Hours: 8am-5pm M-F

Advanced skills in MS Access: Ability to create tables, forms, charts, queries, macros and create and maintain new and existing databases as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
Download and analyze data for projects and management reports.Perform monthly cost analysis for management review and provide additional reports as needed.Manage carrier bidding processes and recommend options based on service and cost.Create and manage Access databases for departmental data.Fulfill training requirements. Key Performance Indicators:Maintain transportation databases and analyze freight expenses.Verify third-party payment data accuracy.Update funding documents in internal databases.Provide regular freight cost summaries.Advise on potential cost-saving opportunities.Prepare and distribute reports.Provide expertise on data analysis as required.Assist in business planning with cost projections.Facilitate the bidding process and recommend options based on analysis.Collaborate with Systems Department for process improvements.Provide ad hoc reports and analyses as requested.Required Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
5+ years experience requiredMinimum of 5 years of experience in related logistics activities such as freight rates, freight bill auditing and other sea/air/land carrier related activities.Minimum of 5 years of analysis experience preferably within the automotive industry in the area of traffic/logistics/parts warehouse and claims.Strong working knowledge of SQL and QMF (query management facility).Advanced skills in MS Office: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Advanced skills in MS Access: Ability to create tables, forms, charts, queries, macros and create and maintain new and existing databases as needed.Strong analytical skills.Previous experience with importing data files from mainframes and test formats to MS Excel/Access.Strong oral and written communication skills.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
