The Divinity School at the University of Chicago is now accepting applications for a part-time Lecturer to teach in Winter 2023 and Spring 2023, up to three courses total. This appointment will involve teaching undergraduate and graduate (MA and PhD) courses in Islam and Islamic studies focusing on the religion, culture, and politics of the Islamic world. Responsibilities include preparing and teaching seminar-style courses, holding regularly scheduled office hours, preparing and grading assignments, and attending staffing meetings.
The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the University.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a social sciences or humanities area relevant to the curriculum. Experience teaching at the university or four-year college level is required.
