We seek an exceptional Lead Phlebotomist to join our thriving practice in the Addison, Texas area. The ProPath practice alone has over 50 physicians and nearly 550 team members while Sonic Healthcare USA has over 300 physicians and nearly 8,000 team members. This is the largest physician-led pathology practice in the country.

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES: 

  • Demonstrate competency for all responsibilities of a Phlebotomist including:
    • Perform blood draws competently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible.
    • Utilize standard procedures to identify the patient, and record appropriate collection information. Label and record all test tubes, log procedures and enter specimen data into the computer system.
    • Responds quickly, courteously, and in a professional manner toward patients, client staff, and coworkers. Resolve issues and ensure quality patient care.
    • Follow standard precautions at all times. Routine handling of biohazardous and/or chemically hazardous material.
    • Utilize company resources to aid with day-to-day operations and specimen data input (i.e. test catalog, client services, etc.).
  • Verify that phlebotomists correctly obtain, process, and transport their specimens in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform orientation and training for new employees. Train all employees on new procedures or changes to existing procedures.
  • Ensure phlebotomists maintain a professional appearance.
  • Assist in writing and revising Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain workflow schedule. Coordinate completion of time-sensitive tasks/requests.
  • Ensure that phlebotomists are monitoring inventory and ordering supplies in a timely fashion.
  • Effectively communicate deficiencies to appropriate personnel, including deficiencies related to specimens, paperwork, database information, and equipment
  • Participate in quality control activities.
  • Assist in the compilation and submission of monthly statistics.
  • Communicate with the department supervisor and other personnel to maintain workflow and resolve pending issues. Keep the department supervisor advised of personnel, procedure, and workload issues.
  • Identify problem areas and develop recommendations for solutions for the supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively in a courteous, professional manner with all levels of management, co-workers, and clients to provide quality customer service.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, company, and department policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee, patient, client, and company information.
  • Work effectively within a team-oriented department and company.
  • Comply with all safety policies.
  • Dispose of all sharp instruments in the sharp container.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Work overtime as needed.
EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of at least five years of experience as a Phlebotomist and have Phlebotomy Certification.
