Caterpillar's Building Construction Products (BCP) division is hiring a Lead Business Intelligence Analyst .

In this role, you will support data analytics activities and projects for the North American Industry team and broader Marketing and Sales team. You will work to gather and document user requirements, support the development and testing of new dashboards and reports, collect feedback from our field teams, and recommend improvements to existing systems. Candidates with field experience, having worked with Dealers and Customers, will be able to apply that knowledge to support our field team with making informed decisions on a day-to-day basis.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in the development, testing, and delivery of new internal dashboards, analyzing existing offerings and recommending upgrades.
  • Identify user requirements and provide governance by leading an internal Data Analytics Validation team consisting of field reps to define technical specifications and new dashboard opportunities.
  • Work with our Strategy Manager to develop and support a master catalog of projects from your region; Provide proper data governance and prioritization structure throughout the BCP Sales and Marketing team.
  • Support our Industry team by fulfilling their data requests, preparing reports, and providing technical assistance; Participate in initiatives to improve processes efficiency and employee productivity.
  • Project management/prioritization of existing and new data analytics projects.
  • Direct the work of a small cohort of Data Engineers and Data Analysts based in our India Center of Excellence to deliver on project completion.

Key Skills for Success

  • Business Data Analysis Skills: Knowledge of business data analysis; ability to collect, identify, analyze and interpret business data using various kinds of techniques to meet business needs and requirements.
  • Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
  • Research Analysis: Knowledge of the concepts, methodologies and methods of research analysis; ability to locate, interpret and evaluate research findings compiled and documented by others.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

Additional Skills and Experience

  • Highly Proficient in MS Excel, PowerBI and Tableau
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in Python preferred
  • Effective communicator
  • Experience in a sales or service field rep role, working with dealer or distributor networks desired
  • Experience supporting a sales or marketing arm of business for data related requests desired
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Work Details

  • Work Location: Cary, NC
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available to Cary, NC.
  • This is not a remote role. Caterpillar operates in a hybrid environment that requires 3 days per week of onsite work.
