Responsibilities

This position's main function is to lead their respective group in continuous improvement in safety, cost, quality and productivity by leading the utilization of World Class Manufacturing tools and techniques.

Safety:

• Lead 5S initiatives.

• Ensuring visual management standards are maintained and improved

• Completing audits, accident investigations (SEWOs), conduct risk assessments, and lead safety kaizens

• Lead the activities which support the employee's autonomous ownership of safety.

Quality:

• Lead data collection (defect tags, allstar) and audit methods to appropriate standard

• Drive improvements from quality gate through the utilization of the appropriate WCM tool (HERCA, OPL, Quick Kaizen)

• Lead activities which proactively improve methods and standards to guarantee quality/ poka yoke

• Completing visual management metric boards with KPIs and tracking of improvements

• May also rotate into a Quality Gate.

Production:

• Lead training for all new and current team members in support of 3x3x3 matrix.

• Assist with development of standardized work (SOPs) for all processes within team.

• Lead team in initiatives in WCM and Lean Manufacturing to meet goals of continuous improvement in downtime, scrap, and other initiatives that impact team's performance.

• Lead and coordinate activities related to line balancing.

Cost:

• Capture, understand loses, and drive initiatives to attack causal and resultant loss.

• Calculate benefit/cost. *

Engagement:

• Train employees in basic WCM Tools including but not limited to WO, 5S and others.

• Communicate teams' goals and achievement of safety, quality, production and morale items.

• May fill in for team members in a production capacity when required or directed by Supervisor

• Encourage team's participation in suggestion system. Lead resolution of suggestions arising in their area.

• May perform other team lead functions as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must have GED or HS Diploma
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • 2+ years of experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment with at least 3 months in production setting

Preferred:
  • No disciplines for any reason within the last twelve months of active employment.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, planning and problem solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of WCM/LEAN demonstrated through active participation in WCM/LEAN activities.
  • Experience using computers and Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Power Point and Outlook highly preferred.
  • Demonstrate role model safety behaviors.
  • Must have knowledge of the jobs in area applying for or ability to learn jobs within a reasonable period of time.
