This position supports our medical professional liability line of business and specializes in the Podiatry and Chiropractic books of busines. Preference is for this remote position to be based in the EST or CST time zones, but we will consider qualified candidates located in other time zones.

Job Summary:

The Account Manager role is to serve as the internal agent for the company for the direct distribution channel for the Podiatry and Chiropractic book of business. This role manages a territory without multi-risk policies and with little to medium complexity. This position is the voice of the company with external customers and must have insight into the unique needs of the specialties they serve. The Account Manager regularly collaborates with the various business functions that support customer retention such as business development, IT, marketing, claims, product, and underwriting. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with policyholders, identifying, and assessing their professional liability insurance needs, and recommending appropriate coverage options as well as recognizing the importance of exceptional customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

50% - Manage an assigned territory with the following tasks:

  • Responsible for the retention of approximately 1200-1700 PICA and OUM policies annually.
  • Inform and educate customers regarding coverage needs to avoid gaps in coverage and provide quotes for alternative or additional coverages to policyholders based on practice criteria.
  • Conduct risk analysis and develop insurance solutions to mitigate client risks.
  • Possess the skills to retain customers from leaving for competitors and the ability to explain pricing strategy changes that continuously evolve due to our underwriting appetite.
  • Become a subject matter expert on regulations and challenges specific to their territory.
  • Initiate proactive communication with insureds, decision makers, office staff, and third parties as needed.
  • Contact policyholders for additional information required for underwriting decisions.
  • Advise customers regarding coverage needs to avoid gaps in coverage and provide quotes for alternative or additional coverages to policyholders based on practice criteria.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with regulatory/DOI requirements of states in their territory.
  • Maintain a quality score of 90% or above.
  • Manage small group accounts of 3-25 risks.

40% - Customer Service, Account Management and Customer Retention:
  • Handle approximately 350-450 phone calls monthly (inbound and outbound) consisting of calls about coverage, pricing, and risk.
  • Sell the value of our company and products throughout the year to overcome competitor pricing and retain policyholders.
  • Meet established service standards to client needs, questions, or change requests.
  • Stay current on market trends including pricing, product, and distribution.
  • Provide monthly written summary describing territory trends and department updates.
  • Work closely with underwriters to meet retention goals for assigned territory.
  • Escalate calls to the Senior Account Manager as required when warranted.
  • Back up other Account Managers and Account Coordinators as needed.

10% - Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide feedback for ongoing project work as requested by management.
  • Assist in meeting Policy Service's initiatives and goals.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and changes in insurance.
  • Maintain knowledge of underwriting guidelines established by each state and line of business.
  • Participate in Innovation Challenges and Labs related to process improvement or customer experience.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management.
  • Live Treated Fairly every day.


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma is required. Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field is preferred.
  • Minimum three years of experience in the insurance industry specifically in sales, sales support, account management, policy services, and/or customer service.
  • Property and Casualty license required.
  • Exceptional customer service and active listening skills.
  • Effective and professional communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products.

The salary range displayed represents the entirety of the pay grade for this position. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have, your location and comparison to other team members already in this role.
