Job Description

Veolia Water Technologies (VWT) is currently seeking an I&C Project Engineer to work in our Whittier Filtration office in Brea, CA.

We are currently seeking qualified individuals to help us respond to exciting opportunities involving the purification of industrial process water. If you are interested in joining a team that is undertaking challenging and important projects and you have a solid, related engineering background, we would like to meet you right away.

VWT specializes in water treatment filtration and separation systems for a variety of industrial processes. The Auto-Jet, Filtra-Matic, Autoflot, and Power Clean are some of our proprietary technologies installed in Lithium Mining, Battery Recycling, Gold and Silver Mining, Chemical Processing, and Oil & Gas plants.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in control systems design of automated packaged process equipment, preferably for treatment of industrial water streams.
  • Candidates must possess as a minimum a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Control System Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • An innate ability to close out task lists, i.e. get things done.
  • Confidentiality and non-compete agreement.
  • Thorough understanding of instrumentation and control systems used in packaged process equipment utilizing pumps, valves, instruments, control panels, remote I/O panels, junction boxes, and the documentation describing the same.
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Codes NFPA 70 & 79 and UL60947/UL508.
  • Experienced in all of the documentation typically used to define control systems: System Architecture Diagrams, Ladder and Function Block Logic Diagrams, Panel Layouts, Electrical Schematics, Field Wiring Diagrams, Loop Diagrams, Cable Schedules, Conduit Layouts, Junction Box Layouts, Load Calculations, Single-Line Diagrams, Motor Control Centers, Circuit Protection, I/O Maps, Instrument Indices, and other documents to support the proper specification of a complete control system.
  • Experience with programming PLCs such as Allen Bradley, Modicon, Siemens, etc. is a huge plus but not a primary requirement.
  • Intermediate to Expert level with the ability to create diagrams in AutoCAD, including AutoCAD Electrical is a plus, but the ability to lead others to create these diagrams based on input from and thorough review by yourself is a prerequisite.
  • Intermediate level required in: Google apps suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive).

Some Responsibilities Include:

  • Review technical specifications required for projects.
  • Specify electrical/electronic equipment and components used in process equipment.
  • Work directly with internal Engineering personnel to ensure document deliverables are on time and in compliance with project specifications.
  • Work with our engineering resources to create all control system designs and drawings needed for project execution.
  • Define scope of supply for suppliers, and write procurement specifications and requests for quotation.
  • Support the tendering team by helping review specs and estimating control system costs to manufacture.
  • Create Factory Acceptance Test protocols and witness these tests being performed, often requiring domestic or international travel.
  • Support the project team by participating in HAZOP meetings, requiring domestic or international travel.
  • Participate in regular status meetings and have all information ready to report to others.
