Responsibilities

The Instructional Specialist I serves as the instructor of record for The Career Center's asynchronous, virtual Experience Recognition Program (ERP) courses with student enrollment ranging between 275-450 students engaged in experiential learning opportunities each semester. The Instructional Specialist I manages functionality and teaching of ERP, including communicating with student participants, internship sites, faculty and staff; processing student applications for enrollment; promoting the programs to the FSU community; reporting on experiential learning engagements and program participation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing ERP assignments and course discussions in alignment with best practices for asynchronous teaching and learning as well as experiential education.
  • Promoting ERP programs to the FSU community by creating an outreach plan and actively partnering with campus colleagues.

  • Communicating with student participants, experiential learning sites, faculty and staff.

  • Processing student applications for enrollment, and guiding students through online application and assignment submission process.

  • Serving as the Area Contact for the university-wide Garnet & Gold Scholar Society (GGSS) Program's Internship Engagement Area.

  • Collaborating with the Career Center's Assessment and Data Analyst on assessment and data projects related to ERP that demonstrate the impact of student engagement in high-impact experiential learning opportunities.

  • Supporting Career Center operations by assisting in delivery and implementation of core Career Center programs as needed. This includes, but is not limited to: providing career advising, delivering career development workshops, and supporting career fairs and other recruiting events.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Higher Education, Career Counseling, Public Administration or a related field.

Experience teaching and/or providing workshops or trainings to a variety of audiences.

Experience in managing complex projects and/or program planning and evaluation.

Experience with Canvas or other student information systems, PowerPoint, and student-data-related technologies.

Excellent written and oral communication.

Strong interpersonal skills, and experience building and maintaining positive working relationships.

Anticipated Salary Range

The anticipated salary range is the mid $40,000's, commensurate with experience and education.

Considerations

This is a Faculty position.

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.

This is a full-time, 12-month Faculty position (non-tenure track, but eligible for the specialized faculty promotion/process in accordance with the Bylaws of the Division of Undergraduate Studies).

This is a 40 hour per week position with occasional evening and weekend hours as needed.
