Graduate Research Assistant
Massachusetts General Hospital(MGH)

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the applicant will be asked to independently carry out daily activities, divide their efforts between independent projects, animal husbandry, and lab organization. The individual is expected to be engaged and participate in scientific activities such as seminars, lab meetings, and journal club in addition to their experimental obligations.

• Prepare basic solutions and performs base-level procedures as assigned (i.e. - pipetting, cell and tissue culture, etc.).
• Supports animal experiments (with mice) through husbandry, genotyping, euthanasia, and dissection.
• Performs assays utilizing standard techniques (antibody staining, flow cytometry, microscopy, DNA/RNA extraction and analysis, standard and quantitative PCR, ELISA, cloning).
• Analyzes experimental results and troubleshoots methods to improve research protocols.
• Maintains organized records, back-ups and documentation of all experimental procedures.
• Reports results to the supervisor in oral and written form.
• Cell/tissue processing, culture and maintenance.
• Independently performs routine and non-routine experiments that are moderate to complex.

• Independently motivated, detailed orientated and good problem solving ability
• Ability to multi-task and work independently under pressure
• Ability to work in a team environment, meet deadlines, and prioritize and balance work from multiple individuals
• Must be willing to learn and grow

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree required, applicant should ideally be enrolled in a PhD program

EXPERIENCE:

Applicants enrolled in a PhD program strongly preferred.
