About the job

As a Fiberglass Finishing Associate, you will assist the production process in constructing fiberglass materials used in building final products. The Fiberglass Layup Laminator will be involved in fiberglass material prep work, resin spray, and manual paint rolling, which requires him/her to refer to numerous blue prints.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Under the direction of a supervisor, effectively and efficiently examines fiberglass finish for defects, and repairs as necessary. Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.

•Can involve drilling, patching, repainting.

•Smooths surfaces with sandpaper and buffs finish.

•Mixes repair materials as required.

•Uses power drill, grinder, buffer and spray gun.

•Examines fiberglass finish for defects, repairs as necessary.

•Exposed to dust, gelcoat, resin, MEK, acetone, buffing compounds and various patching materials.

•Involves climbing, bending, stretching.

•Must be agile and able to climb easily in and out of fiberglass boats and boat parts.

•Must possess ability to lift 12-15 pounds, oftentimes with arms extended over head for extended periods of time (5-6 hours daily)

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION DESIRED •

Education (degree or years) and/or Certification/Registration:

  • High School Diploma/GED•

Type and Length of Experience:
  • One year of related experience•

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes Desired in Candidate:

  • Individual who is mechanically knowledgeable is important.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS• Physical Requirements (lifting, climbing, standing, equipment use):
  • Individual will be required to lift certain materials weighing under 50lbs to different areas of the plant. An overhead crane will be used for items over 50lbs.
  • Individuals will be climbing ladders, bending squatting and using many mechanic type of tools.
  • Environmental Factors (hazardous materials, work location, work surfaces, exposure):Individual will be in a heavy manufacturing environment. It will be quite loud in areas and several PPE is required.
