Position Title: Executive Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships

Department: District Office

Starting Rate: Band 10 - $97,600 - $129,300

Position Summary:

The Executive Director, Financial Aid and Scholarships reports to the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and is responsible for oversight of the College's financial aid operations.

Employees are expected to uphold and contribute to the Chancellor's Goals, Objectives and Timelines.

The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings and weekends and local travel.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for aligning the College's financial aid programs to the Chancellor's Goals and objectives. This will include the following:
  • Directs, coordinates plans, and evaluates financial aid initiatives and efforts with other areas of the College to ensure accomplishments of strategic plans
  • Manage and direct the activities of the department
  • Oversee budgeting, accounting and financial reporting activities for assigned department
  • Ensure compliance with College policies and state and federal laws in regards Financial Aid programs and Title IV
  • Submission of timely reports and data to the US Department of Education
  • Supervise employees, including prioritizing and assigning work
  • Identifies and assesses current and future organizational needs through process analysis and collaboration with senior management to meet College objectives
  • Oversee employee hiring, corrective action, disciplinary and termination recommendations as necessary
  • Coordinates, provides, and encourages training as necessary for department
  • Direct and supervise the collection and review of data and the preparation of a variety of reports, statements, and communications
  • Participate in professional development in Financial Aid programs and Title IV requirements and recommending improvements to department practices, policies and processes
  • Participates in executive, management, and company staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars
  • Develop appropriate metrics and tracking mechanisms to measure overall department effectiveness and individual programs
  • Collaborates with other departments as necessary in order to meet college objectives and goals.
  • Maintains open lines of communications between the College and the US Department of Education, Federal Student Aid Office
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor
 

Job Requirements:
  • Master's degree in a related field and
  • Four years of progressively responsible management and leadership experience related to the area of assignment
or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
Preferred:
  • Five to seven years of progressive leadership/management level financial aid experience
  • Exceptional knowledge of and experience implementing Title IV regulations
  • Operational knowledge of the Ellucian Banner student information system or similar financial aid software
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Experience administering standard, non-standard and non-term programs
  • Three years of related leadership/management experience in a related field

  • Confidently and effectively communicate with the executive leadership of the College.
  • Must be able to provide the executive leadership with timely analysis of any potential risks and liabilities that arise in the financial aid operation.
  • Be a proven leader, a skilled, seasoned and effective decision-maker, and a person of known integrity and sound judgment.
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively manage and embrace and communicate change, build consensus, establish and maintain collaborative working relationships and gain confidence and cooperation from others
  • Have knowledge of fiscal management including federal state and institutional reporting, establishing budgets and resource allocation
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality
  • Possess skills in evaluating employee capabilities
  • Develop sound and compliant policies , procedures and process
  • Ability to interpret and maneuver organizational dynamics
  • Ability and willingness to remain current in best practices and regulatory knowledge
  • Ability and desire to provide ongoing training
  • Experience in effective and efficient delivery of services in a student and customer-oriented environment
