Under the direction of the Dean of Business & STEM, the Evening/Weekend Faculty Member will teach Education coursework based on the needs of the field, department and in partnership with grant-funded academic programming. Course assignments will include some nights, weekends and remote instruction. The Department is comprised of tracks for Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary Education, and Child & Family Studies. This position requires a knowledge of child development, current MA state regulations, certifications and licensing standards of DEEC and DESE, best practices in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, and dedication to the field of Education. The work of the Education Department at Holyoke Community College is grounded in the commitment to progress toward a more inclusive and equitable society as we collaborate with and learn from children, adolescents, schools, and community partners in diverse settings.

  • Class preparation incorporating a wide variety of teaching methods and modalities, including lab time, lecture, and online instruction.
  • Teaches Education courses.
  • Development and updating of curriculum to meet the ever-changing needs of the industry.
  • Serves as an academic advisor to Education students.
  • Maintains professional expertise in areas of specialization.
  • Assists in the development of pathways into credit programs and transfer institutions.
  • Active participation in committees related to college and departmental initiatives.
  • Attending various departmental, divisional, and college meetings.
  • REQUIRED:

  • Master's degree in Education or related field or actively enrolled in a Master's program with a completion within 4 years of hire date.
  • Five (5) years related experience.
  • Experience teaching in Early Childhood and/or Elementary Education and Care.
  • Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish).
  • Ability to teach nights, weekends and online as a part of full time contract.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with online and in person teaching.
  • Experience with and understanding of DEEC and DESE.
  • Commitment to and understanding of the mission of the community college.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.
  • Ability to meet the needs of nontraditional students and diverse learners including but not limited to: Spanish speakers, English language learners, and students' representative of the regional workforce.

  • NOTE: A teaching demonstration will be a required part of the interview process.

    PREFERRED:
  • Experience in delivering courses via distance and web-based instruction.
  • Experience teaching in Elementary Education.

    Full-time, tenure-track MCCC/MTA position
    Salary: Minimum $56,000 - $70,000. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Full State benefits.
