General Summary

This position is responsible for the assisting in the oversight and administration of equipment maintenance, management, and repairs for an assigned facility; acts as the primary point of contact for project-specific, fabrication, environmental, and other needs indirectly related to equipment maintenance.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  • Assist in oversight of the maintenance and repair of all equipment for assigned facility in accordance with Granite's Corporate Equipment Standards.
  • Participate in maintenance and repair activities as needed.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of equipment files including inventory, repair, maintenance, oil sampling, and servicing to ensure the preservation of company investments.
  • Complete special projects required to support the assigned facility as needed.
  • Inspect equipment on a regular basis to identify mechanical or safety problems and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Compare costs and best value of equipment repair including parts, contracting outside vendors, using in-house labor or equipment replacements to ensure the most cost effective choices are made.
  • Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives including holding weekly safety meeting with staff to ensure a safe work environment.

Education
  • BS in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management or related field preferred.

Work Experience
  • Part-time or internship experience in equipment or construction-related field preferred.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Strong leadership ability.
  • Practical knowledge of the function, operation and maintenance of construction equipment and/or education & experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and scheduling software and familiarity with accounting/financial software.
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and organizational skills.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. At times will be working around large construction equipment, must be safety conscience.
