The Role
Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
This position is for the E81 Waterfront Operations Group. Provides on-site resolution to issues related to Technical Work Documents (TWDs), Discrepancy Logs (DLs), Discrepancy Reports (DRs), etc. Designs and sketches radiological containments for overhaul and refueling work. Performs ship checks for technical assessments. Supports the Material Condition Assessment Program (MCAP). Performs weekly inspections of propulsion plant spaces. Provides technical assessments of discrepancies with work specified in the AWP. Networks and interfaces with Trades, Production, Test, NQC, Ship's Force, NRRO, SOS, RPCO etc. to build relationships with outside organizations. Shadows Trade departments to become familiar with specific jobs and Trades' work practices. Attends daily Overhaul Control Engineer (OCE) meeting to discuss the ship's plan of the day, 72 hour look ahead, and 7 day forecasting with Ship's Force, Production, Test, Refueling, and SOS. Attends daily production meetings (War Room) to discuss current and upcoming work status issues. Manages and reviews construction schedules to coordinate and align engineering efforts. Assist Production and Trades in forecasting upcoming work.
Must Have
Associate's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience
