Purpose

Provide day-to-day assistance to the organization on matters concerning test procedures, planning, scheduling, cleanliness, safety, preventative, and predictive maintenance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the quality of testing assuring product reliability.
  • Provide product testing related technical support for Manufacturing, Contracts, Controls and Design Engineering Departments
Specific Duties
    • Responsible for the Quality, Routine, Type & Special test testing to ensure product reliability to medium and large power transformers, Class I and Class II Power ratings up to 200 MVA base rating Voltage ratings up to 230kV, 900kV BIL including: Autotransformers, Mobile Substations with Switchgear, Skid Transformers. Power Transformers are governed by IEEE C57.1200 and C57.12.90.
    • Follows testing methodologies and practices to meet industry standards and satisfy customer requirements.
    • Actively involved in troubleshooting of failure during the final testing as well as in process testing.
    • Organize, plan with testing technicians on a daily basis to meet company objective. Attend necessary training with testing technicians and Test Engineers to ensure that they maintain the highest standard for testing the product.
    • Responsible for verification of test data in consultation with Quality, Engineering Department and customers.
    • Set up and perform daily testing of transformers/mobile substations in high voltage laboratory.
    Provides training to all Electrical Test Technicians and Associate Engineers.
Education and Experience

Electrical Test Engineer Level 1
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
  • 1-2 years' electrical experience preferred
Electrical Test Engineer Level 2
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5 years experience. Electrical experience preferred
  • Knowledge of transformer testing preferred, related industry standards & procedures
* Must live within or be willing to relocate to a reasonable safe commute to the Lynchburg, VA plant.
