Position Overview

Electrical Engineers with Novelis perform a variety of engineering work in designing, planning and overseeing manufacture, construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of electric or electronic components, equipment, systems, facilities, and machinery used in generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization of electrical energy for domestic, commercial, and industrial consumption. Works closely with other engineering disciplines in the development and application of robotics to increase production quality, efficiency, or volume.
Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and oversee engineering studies and projects.
  • Maintenance and administration of Wonder Ware software systems.
  • Assist in troubleshooting electrical, electronic and computer problems on equipment.
  • Develop procedures to assist in troubleshooting/repair of electrical systems
  • Recommend preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Provide specific training on electrical maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain AutoCAD drawings, equipment manuals, and software.
  • Maintain Backup copies of all Control system and PLC programs.
  • Work with Engineering Staff / Plant Staff to set and meet Plant goals and objectives
  • Recommend new projects and cost reductions.
  • Help monitor and control plant maintenance budget.
  • Participate in the reduction of plant equipment downtime and plan corrective actions.
  • Participate in team meetings with hourly and salaried personnel.
  • Become a resource for hourly and salaried teams.
  • Participate on the Maintenance Hiring team
  • Participate on the Maintenance Natural Management team.
Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline.
  • Three to five years minimum plant experience, preferably in the Maintenance/Engineering areas in the aluminum manufacturing industry.
  • Prefer some experience with molten metal furnaces.
  • Understand role of maintenance/engineering with respect to plant's long term goals.
  • Must have a business aptitude and possess leadership qualities.
  • Must be able to function within a team framework.
  • Experience and comfort in making group presentations.
  • Good technical skills with equipment; i.e., motors, pumps, mechanical systems, etc.
Location Profile

The Buckhannon facility opened in 1999 to serve the electrical conductor industry and other light-gauge applications primarily 1350 and 1100 alloy products. Since then capabilities have expanded to include the manufacture of 5052 6061 and 3003 alloys for cookware products. Products are produced for mill finish electrical conductors cookware products packaging and distribution. Buckhannon is considered a niche shop employing around 70 people and processing a wide range of products in smaller quantities for many markets and customers.
