Job Summary:
This Digital Product Owner position will be focused on the Cat Inspect application within Cat Digital, specifically the Cat Used Inspect and the Cat Wear Management System's integrations into, merging with, and ongoing maintenance in the Cat Inspect application.

What You Will Do:

  • Coordinates with scrum team and product development engineers to track and communicate design, development, support, and maintenance problems and solutions and manage product backlog.
  • Identifies, documents, and reports design, reliability and maintenance problems and bugs. Gathers and consolidates feedback from customers and field staff.
  • Coordinates with field support specialists and customers to address and resolve problems and maximize the value of the product through expanded product usage.
  • Answers customer and field support questions; provides guidance and support for product integration and infrastructure issues.
  • Collaborate with business partners, regarding what features the product will have and assist with the elaboration of epics, themes and features into user stories that are small enough, or granular enough, to be achieved in a single sprint.

What You Will Have:
  • Software Product Business Knowledge: Working knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; ability to manage install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Working knowledge of UAT activities, tasks, tools and techniques; ability to design, implement and evaluate acceptance tests for end-users.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Extensive knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Effective Communications: Extensive knowledge of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Software Change Request Management: Working knowledge of software change request management; ability to manage software product change requests from business partners and dealers.
Considerations for Top Candidates:
  • Typically 3+ years of experience with Agile methodology
  • Product Owner certification (CSPO from Scrum Alliance)
  • Knowledge of and experience with the Cat Wear Management System (CWMS) digital application
  • Working knowledge of Undercarriage and/or Ground Engaging Tool (GET) business(es)
  • Domain expertise in business applications
  • Experience managing projects using Agile software tools such as Mingle, VSTS, JIRA, Team Services, Rally
  • Experience working with onshore/offshore team model.
  • Knowledge of SDLC and demonstrated experience employing SDLC in aspects of the project management process.
  • Good knowledge of Caterpillar policies, standards, procedures, and a broad understanding of Caterpillar's organization.

Additional Details:

This position has the option to be based out of either our Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL offices with a flexible hybrid office environment.
