Data Engineer

Vertiv is hiring a Data Engineer in Columbus, OH who will be responsible for implementing business reporting and analytics tools within the framework of the Lean Six Sigma, perfect execution team. This role will be part of a highly skilled team of change agents working with all functional areas of the business as well as customers and suppliers. Candidate will participate and lead day to day reporting and process improvement projects utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

The right candidate will possess excellent data analytics skills to lead and facilitate customer centric projects. Responsible for researching, finding, extracting, and transforming data into usable reports that meet requirements to assist with high level business decisions.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Implement new statistical or other mathematical methodologies as needed for specific models or analysis
• Collaborate with all business departments to understand company needs and devise possible solutions
• Keep up-to-date with latest technology trends
• Data mining using state-of-the-art methods
• Communicate results and to key decision makers
• Optimize joint development efforts through appropriate database use and project design
• Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems
• Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
• Perform ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner
• Design, code, and test automated data extraction and dashboard tools
• Develop, improve, and maintain the reporting standards and systems for the business.
• Extensively work with electronic systems and databases in SQL and other tools

MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS: (Education and Work Experience)

• Minimum of a BS Computer Science or Engineering
• Experience with Databases, Hadoop, SQL, MS Access, or equivalent
• R, Peral, visual studio, and SQL coding
• High Proficiency in MS Access and MS Excel
• Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
• Dependable and self-directed; capable of working with minimal supervision.
• Conscientious, accurate, and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Excellent oral & written communication skills.
