Overview / Responsibilities

Wood's Consulting Business is looking for a dynamic, experienced Consulting Proposals Manager t o lead the Proposals function across the Americas . This is a new role which will report in directly to the Global Head of Proposals for Consulting and will be accountable for all service lines within the Consulting business .

The Consulting Proposals Manager for the America's primary purpose is to work closely with senior leadership, strategy, business development, capture personnel, and operations staff, to plan and deliver responsive, well-defined, and effective proposals to clients and prospective customers at locations worldwide. The Consulting Proposals Manager - Americas will also work closely with the VP of Growth & Development (G&D) for the Americas region to ensure that cross selling opportunities are maximized.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster the sale of Wood Solutions - Encourage and support cross selling of services for Wood across all markets and Consulting service lines
  • Pro-actively advance the company's proposal planning and management processes as well as ensure incorporation of proposal best practices into all processes and responses
  • Take end-to-end ownership and command of proposal development and related support processes and procedures, including written proposals, oral presentations, Best and Final Offers, Evaluation Notices, Final Proposal Revisions, etc.
  • Provide training on the proposal process and proposal best practices for all proposal team members within their region as well as all major stakeholders of the proposal process
  • Ensure compliance of Growth & Development owned Tender Governance Policy gates during pursuit and proposal development
  • Support pre-proposal positioning where appropriate, as well as proposal development strategies and implementation, for both regional and BU strategic This includes capture plan and proposal planning document development.
  • Take on responsibility of Proposal Manager as needed for strategic pursuits and top opportunities, or as required due to workload of the wider proposals team
  • Ensure organization, coordination and implementation of the preparation, production and submission of responsive, well-defined, and effective proposals and provides key support for strategic planning projects
  • Participate in color/management team reviews for strategic pursuits and top opportunities
  • Ownership and maintenance of the Business Unit-specific content provided for proposal purposes via Wood Knowledge or other avenues (project profiles, experience lists, resumes, boilerplate, etc.)
  • Comply with Wood Code of Business Conduct, Anti Bribery and Corruption undertakings and the Wood mandatory and fundamental procedures.
  • Key support for strategic planning projects and major proposals, making bid and/or no bid recommendations and participating in proposal reviews
  • Ensuring Proposals across AMERICAS are resourced, prepared, and delivered to deadlines and to quality expectations for a Tier 1 Consultancy business
  • Providing leadership to the proposals team across AMERICAS and ensuring their skills are up to date for the requirements of their role
  • Upskilling the team to become the focal point(s) for all Consulting service lines to develop high quality proposals
  • Part of the AMERICAS Consulting G&D Leadership team - developing and maintaining excellent relationships with the Business Development Directors / Managers, whilst ensuring an understanding of requirements for each Service Line
  • Strive for continuous improvement in proposals development and delivery - stay abreast of technology developments and present business case for investment when it is required
  • Minimize use of SME support and pro-actively work to reduce Indirect cost of sales associated with proposal development
  • Responsible for the management of the Consulting AMERICAS proposals team and development of and/or compliance with Corporate and Business Unit-specific proposal procedures



Skills / Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred
  • Extensive experience successfully writing proposals, knowledge of the proposal development life cycle, and understanding of Shipley or other proposal development processes.

Knowledge, skills, and experience:
  • Thorough understanding of and ability to implement industry best practices and Proposals/Marketing techniques
  • Prior experience managing a functional area or large/complex department/group, as required
  • Possess an ability to apply extensive management skills and knowledge in field of specialization/expertise, to ensure functional area performs as expected and in compliance with both internal and external policies, laws, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office 365, SharePoint, Power BI and either Microsoft Dynamics or Salesforce CRM systems
