Computer Operating Systems and Network Technology Instructor - Dual Enrollment

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Pulaski is accepting applications for the position of Computer Operating Systems and Network Technology Instructor to be located at Lawrence County High School for Dual Enrollment CTE students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a high degree of knowledge with a strong hands-on technical background in network administration, PC hardware, systems analysis, and software.

  • Minimum three (3) years of successful experience in information technology & security within the last five years.

  • Post-secondary diploma or equivalent in Information Technology or related field required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, and Microsoft certifications are preferred.

  • Associate/Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field preferred.

  • Evidence of teaching ability; prior teaching experience preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills.

  • Must have good organizational and planning skills.

  • Must have excellent professional ethics.

  • Must be able to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.

  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with CTE students, faculty, staff, the public, and business/industry representatives.

  • Possess the organizational and communication skills needed to interact effectively with high school CTE students, the public and other employees.

  • Must be willing to learn and use classroom management best practices and individualized instructional techniques.

  • Must be willing to remain current in the information technology profession.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Provide theory and hands-on skills instruction to high school CTE students in areas including, but not limited to, troubleshooting, system architecture and protocols, software applications, hardware assembly and repair, backup strategies, networking and configuring computers, and related peripheral devices.

  • Monitor, grade, and evaluate individual CTE students' performance and progress; maintain appropriate documentation of student progress; submit timely reports.

  • Participate in the development of curriculum and instruction.

  • Develop, plan, and prepare a complete progressive course of study, lesson plans, assignments, assessments, and instructional aides, and keep these revised and updated to meet the industry's requirements and in line with statewide curriculum guidelines.

  • Maintain all student academic records related to the program (i.e., grades, attendance, discipline, etc.).

  • Keep abreast of new techniques by visiting industries and businesses, attending workshops, and/or other training programs to remain current in Information Technology.

  • Participate in in-service training, workshops, and other programs for professional growth.

  • Assist in the recruitment and placement of CTE students.

  • Maintain frequent contact with schools, businesses, and industry to identify their training needs, keep instructional material updated, promote the ideals of technical education, and implement an effective placement program for CTE students.

  • Participate in student organizations (SkillsUSA, National Technical Honor Society, etc.).

  • Maintain a well-organized, safe, and clean lab and/or classroom.

  • Make recommendations for and maintaining up-to-date instructional equipment and materials.

  • Be responsible for equipment and supplies assigned to the lab and/or classroom.

  • Maintain an active Program Advisory Committee and cooperate with outside agencies.

  • Plan and initiate Program Advisory Committee meetings and maintain records of meetings on a regular schedule.

  • Teach the Work Ethics curriculum.

  • Supervise and follow-up on CTE students participating in Work-Based Activities.

  • Start and end class at the designated time.

  • Employ best practices in classroom management and instructional techniques.

  • Perform other duties as directed and assigned by the administration.

SALARY:

In accordance with guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents and the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology.
