Summary:

The CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic (CTC) Coding Education Manager provides educational leadership, support, and direction, for the PB Education/Training team who support CTC's coding associates and providers. The Education Manager provides oversight of education and training on the application of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCC, and modifier coding, documentation guidelines, medical policies, medical terminology and disease process. The CTC Education Manager works collaboratively with Coding Operations, PB Revenue Cycle, PB Coding Integrity, providers, clinic leadership and management. The CTC Education Manager supervises and directs the activities of the coding educators. This position is responsible for supporting adherence to CHRISTUS standards and directives and other regulatory requirements including Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and HIPAA standards related to HIM

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Health Information Management Informatics or a related field preferred

• Must possess at least one of the following certifications:

• CPC, CPMA, CRC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA, CDIP

• Experience in administrative and staff management

• Experience in project management

• Knowledge of information systems and healthcare applications (EPIC experience preferred)

• Extensive knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCCs, E&M coding principles and guidelines

• Must possess a general working knowledge in internal integrity requirements and procedures

• Proven ability to manage, challenge, and motivate staff

• Extensive knowledge of federal, state and payer specific regulations and policies pertaining to documentation, coding, privacy, and billing

• Maintains professional public image and behavior towards all customers of the clinic including visitors, patients, coworkers, clinic associates, and providers

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to deal with associates, providers, clinic leadership, peers, patients, and public

• Adept at reading, writing, mathematics; multi-tasking; work well within stressful environment; have strong cognitive and problem-solving skills all with minimal

supervision

• Ability to interpret reports and provide guidance on studies and government regulations and guidelines related to PB Coding

• Knowledge of information systems, healthcare applications, and database applications

  • Experience conducting training/educational sessions for professional staff including preparations of instructional materials is required
• Physician documentation audit experience is preferred

• Experience evaluating coding audits & quality performance preferred

• Strong managerial, leadership, interpersonal skills; excellent written and oral communication and analytical skills are required
