Responsibilities

The role of the Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) is to facilitate and coordinate clinical research studies as part of a multidisciplinary team. The CRN works within the Clinical Trials Office. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Subject recruitment and retention, Regulatory document processing, Interaction with Sponsors and Contract Research Organizations (CRO), Interaction with the Reading Hospital Institutional Review Board (RHS IRB) and Central IRBs, Communication with various departments such as Pharmacy, Laboratory, Emergency Department and Nursing, Coordinating study activities in both inpatient and outpatient settings, Participating in the informed consent process, Performing study assessments as delegated by the Principal Investigator in keeping within the acceptable scope of practice, Processing of study specimens, Dispensing and accounting for investigational product, Maintaining study supplies and study file notebook (SFN), Reviewing and providing input to protocol selection, Maintaining proper documentation to ensure patient compliance and study activity compliance in accordance with FDA regulations and GCP/ICH guidelines. The CRN reports to the Clinical Trials Operations Manager and works under the direction and supervision of the Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator conducting the clinical trial.

Qualifications

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing - OR - Certification in specialty by recognized accrediting agency - OR - enrolled in RN to BSN or RN to MSN program with minimum 12 credits completed within previous 12 months
Experience
  • 3 years+ experience in inpatient nursing unit
  • Pediatric experience preferred
Certification and Licensure
  • CPR Certification
  • PA Registered Nurse License
