Shift: per diem position

Under the direction of the Medical Director (or the Medical Director's designee) of the Osher Clinical Center according to established policies and procedures, the chiropractor will participate in the evaluation of patients in an integrative multi-disciplinary setting and perform any or all chiropractic interventions as outlined in the delineations of privileges. The chiropractor is responsible for the daily organization, planning, delivery, documentation of and submitting of charges for chiropractic care.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Reviews patient chart for care history and contraindications/precautions for treatment
  • Performs appropriate chiropractic evaluation
  • Prepares the patient for the evaluation and treatment by informing patient of treatment and intended effect via Brigham and Women's Informed Consent.
  • Observes/assesses patient for any unexpected and/or undesirable physical/emotional reactions and appropriately modifies treatment.
  • Documents service provided in medical records system
  • Completes / submits charges as appropriate for services provided.
  • Maintains a safe environment, equipment and supplies in a clean, operable and safe manner.
  • Adheres to all hospital and departmental infection control procedures.
  • Reports status of supplies/inventory to designated personnel.
  • Establishes and maintains effective professional relationships with Osher Clinical Center staff as well as all other multi-disciplinary team members.
  • Provides care in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies regarding patient confidentiality.
  • Follows screening procedures as established by institutional and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Attends all required meetings and conferences as directed.
  • Maintain a valid and current chiropractic license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Fulfills chiropractic standards for continuing education.
  • Records and reports, as needed, all adverse responses to care.
  • Performs other relevant duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required:
  • Must demonstrate effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Must maintain a professional attitude under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Needs general knowledge on the workings of a medical practice.
  • Work requires charting in an electronic medical record and communication using electronic messaging systems.
  • Prior computer experience (MS Windows) is essential.
  • Must be knowledgeable and proficient with the statuary rules and regulations to practice chiropractic in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as outlined in the Massachusetts Board of Professional Regulation, Division of Chiropractic.
Experience:

Required: Evidence of at least one year of clinical experience since licensure with an average of at least 25 patient visits per week.

Three letters of recommendation specifically addressing abilities and experience in chiropractic care. At least one of the letters must be from a teacher or supervisor, and at least two (2) of the letters must be from professional colleagues or individuals with current-- within the past two years-- knowledge of applicant abilities.

Preferred: Condition specific care approaches (e.g., migraine headaches, back pain)

Required: Active and unrestricted license to practice chiropractic in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

Five years of active practice, or advanced clinical residency /internship training.

Preferred: McKenzie Method training / certification; Graston Instrumented Soft Tissue Manipulation training / certification; advanced training in rehabilitation, orthopedics and /or diagnostic imaging.
