The State of Nebraska, Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Child and Family Services Specialist Supervisor for the Division of Children and Family Services. This position will direct a unit of end-to-end staff, as well as alternative response, initial assessment, and ongoing workers. The workers are also responsible for the investigation of child abuse and neglect reports assigned to their caseloads.

Examples of Work
The Child and Family Services Specialist Supervisor will:

• Ensure application of administrative policies, protocols, and programming to support both families, communities and the DHHS field staff.
• Facilitate connection and provide planning, implementation, and delivery of quality services to children and families being served by DHHS or needing connections to DHHS programs.
• Consult with other agency staff members and supervisors to determine allocation of staff and resources to ensure coordination of agency actions and decisions to achieve the goals and objectives of the agency.
• Be responsible for engagement of statewide community collaboratives, community partners, including family and youth with lived experience.
• Provide supervision to staff members including any training, support, coaching, and personnel actions relating to selection, progressive discipline, work schedules, work assignments, leave of absences and planning to ensure efficient and effective accomplishment of the work.
• Provide training, assessment, structure recommendations and daily support to direct reporting teammates.
• Maintain data integrity on various outcome measures as well as development of tracking methods.
• Interact and partner with other agencies, community partners and internal divisions to ensure access to DHHS resources and services for families.
• Assist staff members with planning to ensure customers' needs are met despite complex and difficult family dynamics and needs.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, mental health care, education, criminal justice, or other closely related area. Experience working with various DHHS programs and divisions as well as community based organizations AND experience leading, coordinating, directing, monitoring, and/or supervising others.

PREFERRED:

Child Welfare Experience; 3 or more years of CFSS Experience with experience in Initial Assessment Case Management, Alternative Response Case Management and/or Ongoing Case Management; and supervisory/mentor experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: the principles and techniques of supervision; the principles practices of direct case management including assessment, analyzing critical information, plan development and implementation; the importance of
families/individuals having normal life experiences that are consistent with age, gender, culture and community setting; the value and importance of families/individuals having the right and ability to make decisions; federal laws
and regulations concerning confidentiality, release of client information and social service delivery; State laws on the abuse and neglect of individuals; training methods and procedures; work performance or other standards
development; employee performance evaluation; program analysis/evaluation; policy development; vulnerable adult issues.

Skill in: interviewing customers to collect and elicit essential information and assess customer needs and progress; openly and honestly discussing concerns with others in a non-judgmental way; using a keyboard.

Ability to: plan, assign, direct, and evaluate the work of subordinate staff; protect confidential information; communicate electronically, on paper and in person with customers, co-workers, and other stake holders.
