Although we are currently in the North American market, we see great opportunity to expand our markets. To support this, we are currently looking for a Category Manager for our headquarters in Warren, New Jersey.

You will be responsible for one of several procured categories such as: Facilities Management, Contingent Labor, Corporate Travel, Data, and Corporate Credit Cards. The Category Manager will come under the Global Administrative Services group and will lead all aspects associated with the planning, opportunity assessment, negotiation and acquisition of major groups of goods and services associated with their procured category. This is a newly created role that will respond to Everest's continued growth and expansion.

This role has a critical responsibility for developing and aligning category strategies with the business partners needs across the Enterprise by identifying and managing a supply base to drive growth & profitability. This is a great opportunity to be responsible for building a new function and working with a wide range of stakeholders. The role will develop category plans, deliver contract negotiations, govern appropriate processes and ensure procedures are adhered to. The position is responsible for training stakeholders and complying with standard sourcing and procurement work procedures to support business objectives while building a global center of excellence.

This Role Will Focus on Four Key Areas

  • Supply Management - Strategy development and priority setting including multi-year category planning with goals to increase engaged spend, preferred supplier programs, supplier diversity, and business process outsourcing trends. This role will develop and build effective relationships to implement strategies across the enterprise and regions.
  • Management Processes - Policy and procedure development and identify sustainable and repeatable work methods to ensure good outcomes; including contributing to the design and implementation of the new Procure-to Pay tools.
  • Sourcing Expertise - Lead the development and negotiation of RFx, SOWs and contracts through the contract lifecycle maximizing value while minimizing risk. Partner closely with Legal and stakeholders to support efficient contract review, contract negotiation and contract finalization while creatively resolving negotiation barriers.
  • Value Creation - As Everest continues to grow our business globally, we need to look at opportunities to partner with our regional offices, Vendors and Clients in different ways to solve business issues, create innovative third party solutions and grow closer with our Business units. This role will look at opportunities to improve our spend category strategies that will deliver a better outcome in service levels, revenues or cost reductions and identify where centralized versus local sourcing is advantageous.

Responsibilities for this role will include:
  • Lead Category Management and Strategic Sourcing efforts; enable, implement and deliver sourcing and category management activities across major groups of goods and services.
  • Drive cross-functional projects for assigned category areas. Develop sourcing and category strategy, assist with supplier selection and negotiate contracts.
  • Provide expertise on sourcing and procurement process; and standard methodologies and help to implement across Everest to ensure speed-to-market while minimizing associated risks.
  • Lead all aspects of spend activity for assigned category areas and determine appropriate metrics and information to be measured and reported.
  • Develop and negotiate rate cards to ensure consistent price levels across our Business.
  • Evaluate and synthesize pertinent data including, but not limited to - spend, purchase practices, supply market intelligence, stakeholder requirements, benchmark information, supplier performance data, business cases.
  • Partner with functional and business leaders to reduce total cost of ownership and increase efficiency.
  • Identify large-scale business opportunities and improvement initiatives that increase profitability.
  • Knowledge and experience with procurement/spend systems data and analysis.
  • Ability to inspire change in a global decentralized organization with minimum supervision.

Qualifications
  • 5 + years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant strategic sourcing experience preferably in insurance or financial services.
  • Sourcing experience in the development and management of a global supply base and development of policy and process.
  • Experience in leading local, regional and global sourcing initiatives for major groups of goods and services.
  • Strong and proven commercial acumen across multiple spend categories with a focus on SOW development.
  • Ability to influence across functions and drive results without direct ownership.
  • Experience building diverse supply chains and/or Supplier Diversity.
  • Proven track record of owning and driving results.
  • Excellent relationship management and collaboration skills across various areas of the business.
  • Proficiency in Procure-to-Pay tools (e.g. Coupa, Oracle, etc.) preferred, including experience designing workflows.
  • Strong project management skills.
