Job Description Summary
This position is responsible for operating, adjusting, and troubleshooting boiler and refrigeration systems. Operations include advanced basic care of equipment settings, actual pressures, or levels within Technical Operating Specifications. This position will utilize tools for adjustments of equipment to allow for advanced basic care. This position will require following approved Standard Operating Procedures when performing operating duties involving anhydrous ammonia. On occasion the position could be called on to support other plant processes.

SSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

Routine Boiler/ Refrigeration Duties

Able to Understand and Follow SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) Operator Guidelines

Must operate equipment within standard operating parameters and record equipment set point and readings as required. Must make operational adjustments to ensure equipment operates within standard operation parameters to always insure stable conditions.

Able to operate Plant Auxiliary support systems such as air and water treatment systems.

Able to service advanced basic care and operational PM's.

Able to update CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) with status and details of work order results daily.

Able to operate the systems with minimal supervision.

Able to respond in accordance with PSM (Process Safety Management) regulations to ammonia complaints.

Able to effectively operate assigned equipment covered under PSM covered processes (Process Safety Management).

Ability to acquire 24 HR HAZWOPER Ammonia Safety training.

SAFETY

Must have a complete knowledge as well as demonstrate plant safety rules including but not limited to the lockout-tagout procedure, confined space entry, chemical hazards, and the hearing conservation program. Unique nature of the equipment requires additional understanding and demonstration of safety rules specific to boiler or pressure vessels, Ammonia or Freon refrigeration systems and covered PSM (Process Safety Management) covered processes and compressed air systems. While performing task is expected to identify risk to themselves and others and modify task to mitigate these risks to insure a safe outcome. Is expected to properly use PPE as it relates to operating systems. Must have good personal hygiene and be able to practice safe work habits.

  • Available to work any shift and/or all days of the week in accordance with operational and the plant needs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.

Trade School Certification or Military training related to Boiler and Refrigeration operation preferred.

Mechanical aptitude and experience in industrial maintenance is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety documents and processes, operating and maintenance instructions or work orders, technical and procedural manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondences.

Ability to communicate effectively with peers and Team Leaders.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Must be proficient in basic mathematical calculations addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The team member occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, hazardous or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level around equipment is usually loud. Hearing protection is required and provided by the company.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's work location, job duties, experience and expertise. A reasonable hourly estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $25.75
