Position Description:

Texas State University Ingram School of Engineering invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track position Electrical Engineering faculty position at the Associate Professor level.

Texas State University seeks an individual to augment its faculty expertise while solidifying and complementing the core curriculum. Specifically, candidates with computer engineering expertise with a focus on Biomedical Engineering, Neural Networks, Cyber-Physical Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Machine/Deep Learning, Data Analysis, Robotics, Cybersecurity, and Augmented and Virtual Reality.

Other expertise, such as Embedded Systems, ASIC, SoC and FPGA System Design, Microprocessors, Sensors and Systems, Computer Architecture, Networking, and Control Systems, is preferred.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish a program of externally funded collaborative research, strongly commit to student-centered teaching and mentoring, teach general electrical and computer engineering courses, and perform university and professional service.

This position is subject to the availability of funds.

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in electrical engineering, computer engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Record of being PI or Co-PI of several funded research projects.
  • Record of teaching experience as a full-time electrical engineering faculty member.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: Neural Networks, Artificial Intelligence, Machine/Deep Learning, Data Analysis, Robotics, Cybersecurity, Augmented and Virtual Reality.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • An ability to work collaboratively with faculty across multiple departments and programs.
  • Substantial knowledge of ABET accreditation procedures and deliverables.
  • Industrial or post-doctoral experience (in an area of expertise that complements those of the department faculty).
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: Sensors, Embedded Systems, ASIC, SoC and FPGA System Design, Microprocessors, Sensors and Systems, and Computer Architecture.
  • An ability to effectively mentor EE students at all levels.
  • Record of being PI of several funded research projects in Machine/Deep Learning and/or Augmented and Virtual Reality Data.
  • Record of academic and/or professional service leadership accomplishments.
