Position Summary

Working within the Global Private Equity (GPE) group, the position will be an integral member of the Private Equity Product Specialist team. The role will support the Americas Private Equity Funds, which is Carlyle's largest and oldest private equity fund platform, investing across buyout, growth and core in the Americas. Responsibilities will span the entire fund lifecycle from fund launches to existing investor relations activities including developing capital raising strategies, driving new content creation, responding to investor requests and supporting investor roadshows/events. The role will regularly collaborate with the Relationship Managers, the investment team and other internal stakeholders to help manage the investor relations activities of the Americas Private Equity funds. Periodic interaction with limited partners and potential investors will also be required. This successful candidate must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and work under pressure in a deadline-oriented environment.

The Associate can be based in New York or Washington DC.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

  • Enable successful private equity fundraises by providing support, product / fund expertise, and leverage to Senior Product Specialist and Relationship Managers
  • Provide deep product knowledge and expertise on funds throughout lifecycle; act as product spokesperson internally and externally
  • Support entire fund lifecycle, including fundraising, pre-marketing and LP communications
  • Create and maintain marketing materials including presentations, investor updates and thought-leadership
  • Prepare and manage existing and prospective investor requests, including responding to RFPs, DDQs, other due diligence requests, and providing updates
  • Ensure answers to clients are accurate, consistent, and appropriate
  • Facilitate fund launch documentation, including drafting content and leading production of the fund's PPM
  • Periodically perform above listed tasks in an investor facing capacity representing Carlyle in a professional manner
  • Build collaborative and mutually productive relationship with multiple stakeholders, including Relationship Managers, Fund Management, Fund Heads and Legal & Compliance to manage fundraising and investor relations processes
  • Understand and analyze industry trends and competitive landscape
  • Source and analyze industry research related to fundraising or supporting data around fundraising strategy and rationale
  • Drive the engagement and alignment across the business with key stakeholders and partners to execute on the fundraising strategy
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with Investor Relations professionals, Fund Heads, Fund Managers, Legal and senior management
  • Support Carlyle's Compliance objectives by liaising with the Legal and Compliance Department
  • Coordination and logistics of client events, onsite meetings, webinar events, investor conference
  • Complete special projects as needed


Qualifications

Education & Certificates
  • Bachelor's degree required
Professional Experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of analytical and presentation experience required
  • A strong understanding of financial markets and/or experience with Private Equity required
  • Experience at an alternative investment firm, an alternative investment placement firm, an investment bank or a consultant is required
  • Excellent technical skills, including ability to learn and become the subject matter expert in the products to respond to investor requests.
  • Self-starter, with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, can adjust based on audience - ability to act as spokesperson for the fund / product
  • Strategic and thoughtful; flexibility to prioritize various requests and initiatives
  • Proactive, organized and detail oriented; strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (including Excel and PowerPoint) skills required
  • CRM system experience required; DealCloud preferred.
  • Ability to quickly develop competency in manipulating various reporting platforms and systems to obtain usable LP data
