Salary/Position Classification

  • $72,000+ dependent on experience, Full-Time, Contract, Exempt, 9-month

Purpose of Position

The Department of Aviation at the University of North Dakota seeks qualified applicants for a 9-month, tenure track, faculty position at the rank of Assistant. The anticipated start date for the position is August 16, 2024.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
    • Teaching various aviation courses (3/3 course load equivalent for Assistant Professors) at the undergraduate or graduate level.
    • Teaching various aviation graduate courses to include safety, research design, flight courses and human factors.
    • Maintain at least a 20% research load working toward externally funded grants in an aviation discipline.
    • Advising students on academic and career aspirations.
    • Serving on departmental, college and university committees, as assigned.
    • Supervising graduate students conducting scholarly activities.
Required Competencies
  • Ability to teach and develop a broad array of aviation courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Ability to conduct quality academic research.
  • Competent in using scholarly tools such as "R."

Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D., Ed.D. or J.D. degree.
  • 5 years of professional aviation experience.
  • Evidence of established record of successful, collegiate-level classroom teaching in aviation.
  • Successful completion of a Standard Criminal History Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications
  • FAA Pilot and Flight Instructor certifications.
  • Published research.
