Purpose of Position

The mission of the College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines (CNPD) is to provide excellent and collaborative education, scholarship, and service to advance human well-being for all, with an emphasis on rural and underserved populations.

The CNPD is comprised of three departments: Nursing, Nutrition & Dietetics, and Social Work.

The department of Social Work is seeking a full-time (9-month) tenure-track faculty member to carry out a robust research agenda, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and contribute to the mission of the department, university and profession through service activities. This individual will contribute to a productive and collegial academic team and will develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with students. UND Social Work faculty teach in both our campus-based and online distance programs (BSSW and Advanced Generalist MSW). We offer the only MSW Program in the state and are committed to providing educational access to non-traditional students, especially those interested in serving rural areas and Native American communities. In our rural state, our department has strong partnerships with the state Division of Children and Family Services and houses its training arm, the Children and Family Services Training Center. Our department is also strongly committed to partnerships with our state's Tribal communities. This position requires an in-person, on-campus presence.

The primary responsibilities will be in teaching, research and service/outreach. To ensure establishment of a robust research program, the successful candidate will teach the equivalent of a 12-credit course load the first year and a 15-credit course load in subsequent years.

The successful candidate will develop a nationally/internationally recognized research program and will engage in active efforts to pursue and secure external funding to build research infrastructure and will participate in professional and Departmental/University outreach and service activities. UND and its colleges value diverse perspectives and seek applicants who are committed to helping students from under-represented backgrounds succeed.

The University of North Dakota is supportive of dual-career assistance both within the University and the local community. Please contact UND's Recruiting Manager, Hannah Whalen (Hannah.Whalen@UND.edu), to explore dual-career opportunities.
