Educational and Experience Requirement:

Bachelor's degree in related field. Master's degree preferred. Eight years of experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

Assists the Director of Campus Activities and Traditions with various initiatives and objectives. Performs advanced complex managerial work providing direction and guidance in operations and planning in the department.

Primary Responsibilities:

Empowers students to develop a sense of agency by providing resources, tools, and opportunities for self-advocacy and community leadership. Designs, plans, and executes programs and events that promote connection both among students and within the broader community. Designs, plans, and executes programs and events for the understanding and implementation of formal and informal modalities of community change (e.g., lobbying, grassroots advocacy). Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises a team of student staff members, who will assist in the execution of community and civic responsibility programming and educational sessions. Provides guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to student staff to enhance their leadership, and program management implementation skills. Advocates for and provides guidance to students who request assistance navigating institutional processes, including but not limited to: university policy and procedure, problem-solving, reporting complaints, academic or financial barriers, etc. Supports student opportunities for development of identities. Works to promote a cohesive environment that brings people together and allows all students to benefit from the educational and cultural value of various identities. Creates and maintains a welcoming and affirming space where students experience a sense of belonging and empowerment and can thrive. Coordinates civic engagement efforts in collaboration with campus partners. Evaluates the effectiveness of programs through data analysis, feedback collection, and assessment techniques to make informed improvements. Establishes the strategic plan and goals and objectives. Assists the Director and other managerial staff by directing program activities of staff in the department. Develops goals and objectives. Oversees and approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals. Develops, implements, and evaluates policies and procedures and oversees compliance with policies and procedures. Oversees schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals. Directs and evaluates activities for the Office of Community and Civic Responsibility. Oversees the work of others. Oversees the preparation of management and productivity reports and studies. Manages programs focusing on continuous process improvement. Reviews and approves management, productivity, and financial reports and studies. Represents the Department at various meetings. Hires, terminates, and trains staff. Participates as a contributing member of the Department of Campus Activities & Traditions staff team. Prepares, presents, and oversees the budget and all expenditures for the Office of Community & Civic Responsibility. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications:

Daily contact with other campus departments, faculty, administration, staff, parents, and students. Occasionally requires working outside for outdoor events and incumbent could be exposed to various weather elements. Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws. Ability to manage business functions.

This position may be designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).

Up to 20% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
