Job Summary:

The Assistant Director for Diversity Peer Education & Programming (DPE) is a member of the Center for Student Diversity & Inclusion (CSDI) and will first develop a new peer education program focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion and then lead its activities. The Assistant Director will oversee the recruitment, selection, hiring, training, and ongoing development of the peer educators. In addition to student personnel management, this position will coordinate the program logistics, scheduling, and execution of the peer programming. This position is additionally charged with fostering collaborations with various divisions such as academic affairs, enrollment management, and student success, and other units within the division of student life.

Duties/Physical Demands:

- Develop a new diversity peer education program to educate the Miami student community about all areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly topics related to ability, age, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status.
- Coordinate all operations for the DPE program including all responsibilities related to the selection, training and supervision of the students, to marketing, scheduling, data collection, assessment activities, and website content.

- Maintain and update records, policies, and procedures related to the program.
- Develop and implement a one credit hour training course.

- Develop and implement programs and activities for the CSDI that promote community through social and cultural exchange and engagement.
- Assist in supporting and establishing annual and long-range department goals.
- Support and maintain office standards and policies.
- Support, nurture, and maintain regular and collaborative relationships within the Division of Student Life and other University offices.
- Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion and Miami University.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience working with multicultural/diverse student populations.
- Experience with group facilitation and planning events of various sizes.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Desired Qualifications:

- Master's degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education, Diversity and Inclusion, Leadership, Human Resources or related field strongly preferred by start date
- One to three years of post-master's experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion and related fields.
- Experience working with a peer education program

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Ability to work in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
- Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.
- Organized and detail oriented; able to balance multiple priorities; experience with managing a budget; experience planning campus events
- Must possess strong computer competence, including but not limited to word, Excel, Google Suite, and social media and marketing mediums.
