Job Description:


Clark is an NCAA Division III institution sponsoring 17 athletic programs (excluding football) and a member of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will be responsible for the care, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.


The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide care for student-athletes participating in Clark's 17-team intercollegiate program regarding the administration of athletic training care to student-athletes including prevention, evaluation, emergency care, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.



Major Responsibilities:


  • Care, prevention, and treatment of injuries/illnesses to varsity student-athletes
  • Provide medical coverage for athletic practices
  • Provide medical coverage for athletic competitions, home and away
  • Development and implementation of rehabilitation programs
  • Maintain treatment documentation and records using Athletic Trainer System (ATS) and other subscribed EMR
  • Oversight of student workers, including hiring, scheduling, and training
  • Assist with the coordination of medical insurance claims
  • Review team conditioning and fitness testing plans in accordance with NCAA Catastrophic Injury Prevention Guidelines and departmental policy
  • Adhere to all NCAA regulations and BOC Standards
  • Assist in annual review of departmental policies
  • Assist with directing and evaluating Emergency Action Plans (including inclement weather policies)
  • Assist in organizing and supervising athletic training facilities
  • Assist with the CPR/First Aid/AED certification of coaches
  • Maintain inventory
  • Assist with oversight of weekly clinics with team physician(s)
  • Assist in scheduling appointments for student-athletes with team physicians
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree, required; master's degree preferred
  • Previous athletic training experience at the college level, preferred
  • Previous athletic experience, preferably at the college level
  • Engaging in effective written and oral communication with members of the coaching staff, athletic administration, and sports medicine staff
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills
  • Must have strong communication skills both oral and written
  • BOC certified
  • Commonwealth of Massachusetts Athletic Trainer's license (or eligible and obtained prior to employment)
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certifications, required
  • Experience in therapeutic exercise and manual therapy skills
  • Additional certifications in massage therapy/yoga/pilates/A.R.T./Graston/CKTP
  • Experience managing multiple tasks while working proficiently under pressure
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects effectively
  • Knowledge of effective use of ATS
  • Experience with Google Calendar, Outlook, Microsoft office suite
  • Working knowledge and application of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Working evenings, weekends, and holidays are required
  • Overnight travel may be required
  • Prior experience working with and contributing to a diverse workplace with the ability to interact effectively with a broad range of constituents on campus
