The Application Engineer II-III is responsible for helping the Hyster and Yale dealers specify and sell the proper truck for the customer application, managing the pricing of all SPED sales options and special quoted items for Hyster and Yale, determining capacity ratings for specific truck and front end configurations, and providing technical information and assistance beyond that already published to the field. Also responsible for evaluating customer applications, including on site visits as needed, and providing special options to meet customer requirements. Responsible for maximizing profitability on SPED options and quotes while maintaining overall competitiveness of truck sales and enhancing market share. Responsible for identifying possible changes in manufacturing routings and part costing to reduce special option cost and increase efficiency. When applicable, will develop pricing of modification kits and/or factory installation of options to customer trucks to address customer satisfaction issues.
The successful Application Engineer II-III will have the following Key Accountabilities:
- Analyze specific customer applications per dealer request. Provide technical information and support to dealer/customer.
- Manage the pricing and availability of SPED sales option codes to be published in Hyster and Yale SPED price books. Manage the pricing and availability of special quoted items.
- Determine capacity ratings for specific truck and front end configurations.
- Monitor plant costs of special options and identify possible changes to manufacturing routings and part costing.
- Provide technical information to others within HYG organization. Provide guidance to Order Entry, Service Engineering, and Hyster and Yale sales personnel in problem resolution. This includes training new individuals in department.
- Provide on site assistance to Hyster dealers, Yale dealers, and customers.
- Determine, create, and maintain special option compatibility.
- Provide sold alone kit pricing and availability for field installation of special or standard options.
- 4-year degree required, Mechanical/Technical Engineering degree preferred, plus 3 years related experience.
- BS in engineering preferred or technical training
- In-depth understanding of lift truck component systems
- Truck Stability and operation of WWRP Ratings System
- Experience with MS software applications
- Knowledge of ASME/UL/ITA/NFPA/OHSA industry standards
- Verbal and written communication skills
- 4-year degree required, Mechanical/Technical Engineering degree preferred, plus 5 years related experience.
