Job Summary
The Administrative Assistant (Student Services) provides general administrative support to the Center for Academic Affairs and to manage selected student affairs and service programs and events in a manner that enhances the professional image of the Indiana University School of Nursing. This position is responsible for supporting the Assistant Dean for Student Services and other positions as needed, coordinating the system-wide (8 campus) IUSON financial aid/ scholarship process, and for planning and overseeing events (e.g., graduation, annual student recognition programs, etc.) and programs/activities (e.g., financial aid program, enrichment and support programs, student workshops, peer tutoring programs, and other student service related projects).
General Responsibilities
- Provides administrative support to a department or group of professionals, exercising confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
- Utilizes business software applications to prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, agendas, minutes, etc.; compiles data for expense and statistical reports.
- Receives, screens, and directs incoming calls, visitors, mail, and email promptly, courteously, and accurately.
- Schedules and confirms appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements; tracks expenses.
- Participates in the development and implementation of administrative standards, policies and practices for the organization.
- May perform other duties related to maintaining an internal website and/or working with social media.
QualificationsEDUCATION
Required- High school diploma or GED
PreferredWORK EXPERIENCE
Required- 2 years of relevant experience
Preferred- Experience in a college or university setting

- Knowledge of University systems (i.e., SIS, IUIE, FIS, Oncourse and Publisher)
- Experience with event planning and management
- Ability to work under peak pressure periods
Working Conditions / DemandsThis role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
