Job Description

Montgomery College, Central Services, has an immediate need for a full-time Accounts Payable Manager in the Office of Business Services. The work schedule is 5 days/40 hours a week. This is a Non-Bargaining, Exempt, grade 33 position. Montgomery College promotes and creates a working and learning environment rooted in the basic tenets of fairness, diversity, and inclusiveness.

The Accounts Payable Manager supervises staff and oversees accounts payable activities and payment of invoices.Ensures correct recording to general ledger expense accounts, timely and accurate payment that make full use of available discounts, and proper filing and storage of records. Plans work schedules, assigns and evaluates work for accuracy and conformance to policies. Contacts are with vendors, account managers and other College staff

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the accounts' payable function. Hire, train, develop, oversee, and evaluate employees.
  • Direct assigned tasks and provide assistance as needed.
  • Prepare guidelines for proper coding of invoices to general ledger expense accounts and update records.
  • Support Enterprise Resource Planning upgrades and assist in reviewing and testing configuration.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to procedures.
  • Ensure accurate tracking, processing, and accounting of invoices for the month end, year-end close and accrual process; and the annual 1099 annual reporting requirements.
  • Ensure proper segregation of duties and internal controls.
  • Monitor cash flow reports and checks to ensure that all discounts are taken, and that accurate and timely payments are made.
  • Review checks, vouchers and invoices to verify correct payments.
  • Research and perform detailed analysis or problem resolution for employees and vendors.
  • Participate in annual Financial Statement development and financial audits.
  • Prepare detailed analysis and reconciliations of accounts.
  • Monitor customer feedback and escalated issues for prompt, accurate and timely service.
  • Communicate disbursement cycles, frequencies, payment processes, support documents, and meet established deadlines and requirements for disbursements.
  • Compile and prepare reports and records required by management or governmental agencies.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Three years of experience in accounting, finance or other similar positions.
  • Experience leading, guiding or supervising staff. (Candidates without this experience may be considered but will, if selected, be required to complete mandated supervisory training).
  • The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP) certification

Hiring range : $83,374 - $114,639. Initial salary placement is based on candidate experience and internal equity. Please include a complete resume including all relevant and related work experience.
