Responsibilities

This position serves as an Academic Support Assistant for the Department of Computer Science, supporting the advising unit.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Acting as liaison with Academic Space and Scheduling.
  • Coordinating, preparing, and monitoring the course schedule for fall, spring, and summer terms.
  • Entering schedule into the Course Schedule Master database.
  • Ensuring that all undergraduate students have met required prerequisites during drop/add week.
  • Providing administrative support for academic programs to include advising students on academic policies and procedures, maintaining databases and student academic files.
  • Assisting the Academic Advisors' registration process during drop/add and inputting data in systems and databases.
  • Ordering all textbooks for the department, obtaining supplementary copies for instructors, and processing order forms for each course.
  • Assisting graduate students in preparing and updating Portfolio Binders.
  • Assisting with distribution of class rosters at the beginning of each semester.
  • Requesting and coordinating annual evaluations for all Teaching Assistants and Graduate Research Assistants at the end of each semester.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience. (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)

The ideal candidate is flexible, adapts easily to the needs of multiple stakeholders and communicates effectively, is detailed-oriented, enjoys problem-solving, and is able to organize tasks and meet deadlines.

You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and enjoy seeing projects through to completion.

  • Experience meeting deadlines.
  • Experience compiling, reviewing, and reconciling data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Experience performing accurately in a detail-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize assigned tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and willingness to learn new computer programs.
  • Experience interpreting and applying policies and guidelines.

Anticipated Salary Range

Anticipated starting salary of $34,520, commensurate with education and experience.
